H.E. María PODESTÁ HERRERA

Dame of Grand Cross Magistral Grace, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Argentine Republic.

She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is the mother of five daughters and grandmother to eleven grandchildren.

Since her youth, she has been recognized for her work in the business sector, particularly in areas such as construction, agriculture, real estate, and supermarket trade, within family-owned companies with a presence in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and the United States. She actively participates in cultural, social, and healthcare institutions, both in non-governmental organizations and in the public and private sectors.

With a strong family tradition in the Sovereign Order of Malta, built on diplomatic vocation and humanitarian commitment, she has taken on an active and sustained institutional role, continuing the legacy of her father, who was the Ambassador of the Order.

At the age of 25, she was awarded the Pro Merito Melitense Cross. Between 2008 and 2024, she held various executive positions in the Argentine Association, successively serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Over these sixteen years, she initiated numerous spiritual, charitable, and institutional projects.

Since November 2024, she has been the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Argentine Republic, a designation officially recognized by the National State through Law 27.777.
